The sad thing is I’m not even sure why I am so put off by Skype VoIP and instant messaging software. I have downloaded it three separate times in response to the urging of my team members and the occasional client. All three times I removed it within 30 minutes. If I could have clawed it off of my computer, I would have. Irrational? Undoubtedly. I know people who use it almost exclusively and love it. What I have found is that there doesn’t seem to be much middle ground with Skype. You either love or you loathe it, but it is difficult to find anybody who is just neutral about it.
Skype is currently growing at an astounding rate and recently announced that at the end of the year they had 405 million registered users and recently released the Skype 4.0 version for Windows. I tried it, still hated it.
I am open to suggestion and would really love to hear from passionate Skpe users so I can figure out if I am just being pig-headed about it, or if there really is something different that I can be doing to make Skype actually work for me. Help?

Hi Denise,
I’m fairly new to using Skype myself. I use it both personally and business wise. Personally, I use it every weekend to talk to & see my nieces and nephew, who now live in Texas with their parents. The rest of us are in California. They’ve been there 7 months now and using Skype helps us all keep an updated visual of the kids in our minds.
For business, besides my own clients, I also work with an print-on-demand publisher that sometimes requires phone contact with the authors. Can’t beat the unlimited calls for $2.95 a month.
Of course I could use my cell, but I don’t have a bluetooth headset and I’d like to keep it for personal use anyway. Plus, I can have my hands free to use the computer (which with them I need to do) and talk at the same time.
